Do NOT change your actual username. Do NOT change your password. This is a Phone Number change only. If you are not connecting right away, perhaps you do not have an @pon.net after your username and in this case you can type @pon.net after your username.

Do NOT dial an area code BEFORE the dialup number UNLESS you normally have to dial your area code to make local phone calls.

Open up the Dial-Up Networking folder and locate the icon that refers to Pacific Online.

In Windows 95/98, Dial-Up Networking is found under the following:
Start Menu >> Programs >> Accessories.

In Windows Me, it's found under the following: Start Menu >> Settings.

Once you have found the Pacific Online Dialup Icon - right click on the actual icon and a pop-up menu will appear. Choose "Properties" from this menu as shown in the screen shot directly below.

Next the Session Properties window will appear as shown in the screen shot immediately below. This is where you will change your dialup number. Need a list of all dialup numbers? Click Here

Click 'OK' to save the new phone number. You return to the screen where the Pacific Online dialup icon is displayed. Double Click on the Pacific Online Icon. A connect to screen appears as shown in the screen shot immediately below:

Once you have entered in the new phone number you *must* hit the "connect" button in order to make the phone number change permanent. Thats it!

If you had a shortcut to Pacific Online icon on your desktop prior to making this number change you will want to create a new shortcut. Simply right click on the Pacific Online icon and choose Create Shortcut. Choose "yes" when the box pops.
