Do NOT change your actual username. Do NOT change your password. This is a Phone Number change only. If you are not connecting right away, perhaps you do not have an @pon.net after your username and in this case you can type @pon.net after your username.

Do NOT dial an area code BEFORE the dialup number UNLESS you normally have to dial your area code to make local phone calls.

Click the System Preferences icon in your OSX dock
 
When System Preferences appears, click on the Network icon.
 
Lastly, click the PPP tab. The PPP tab is now highlighted and you can change the phone number in the "Telephone Number" field. Then click Save.
